About Reelo

Reelo is building a next-generation, API-first B2B marketplace platform connecting wholesalers, distributors, and retailers across regulated and freight-heavy industries.
We are evolving from a validated $10M GMV wholesale operation into a scalable, distributed, event-driven marketplace infrastructure designed for long-term growth.
This is a foundational architecture role,  not a maintenance role.

Mission of This Role
Own and design the core distributed architecture that will power:
  • Multi-vendor marketplace systems
  • Order orchestration & lifecycle management
  • Payments, ledger & reconciliation systems
  • Logistics intelligence
  • ERP integrations (Odoo as system of record)
  • AI-driven workflows & automation
You will define the technical backbone of the company.

What You’ll Own
System Architecture & Platform Design
  • Design scalable distributed systems (microservices or modular monolith)
  • Define API Gateway strategy (REST / GraphQL)
  • Implement event-driven architecture (Kafka / PubSub / Outbox)
  • Ensure idempotency, retries, rate limiting & circuit breakers
  • Establish logging, monitoring & observability standards
Marketplace Domain Design
  • Architect vendor onboarding & multi-tenant access control
  • Design order lifecycle state machines
  • Build commission & payout orchestration
  • Define ERP connector boundaries (Odoo as back-office system)
  • Design compliance & audit trails
Payments & Financial Integrity
  • Architect payment orchestration (ACH, cards, split payouts)
  • Design internal transaction ledger
  • Build reconciliation & reporting systems
  • Ensure financial correctness & transactional consistency
AI & LLM Integration
  • Design RAG pipelines & vector search systems
  • Implement AI-assisted workflows (vendor scoring, fraud detection)
  • Establish LLM guardrails & evaluation pipelines
Engineering Leadership
  • Define coding standards & architectural principles
  • Mentor backend engineers
  • Participate in senior hiring decisions
  • Review and validate system designs
What We’re Looking For
Experience
  • 8–12+ years in backend/platform engineering
  • Designed and scaled distributed systems in production
  • Experience in B2B, marketplace, SaaS, fintech, or ERP-integrated platforms
  • Strong domain-driven design (DDD) mindset
  • Experience with transactional systems (payments, ledger, reconciliation)
Technical Stack
  • Node.js / Go / Java / Python
  • Strong PostgreSQL expertise
  • Redis & caching strategies
  • Kafka / RabbitMQ / PubSub
  • AWS / GCP / Azure
  • Docker (Kubernetes is a plus)
What Success Looks Like (First 6 Months)
  • Finalized and documented platform architecture
  • Implemented API Gateway & core services
  • Defined ERP integration boundaries
  • Established DevOps & infra standards
  • Led backend hiring & technical mentorship
Required in Application (Mandatory)

  1. One distributed system you designed and scaled
  2. Experience with B2B or marketplace platforms
  3. A payment or ledger system you built
  4. A production AI/LLM implementation you worked on
  5. An architecture diagram (if available)
